Former Penguin Georges Laraque must have been bored on Friday and felt the need to stir up drama on the Internet, posting "I’m hearing there’s a very good chance that Crosby will play somewhere else…" on his Twitter.
Yeah. Obviously, no. I don't know how many times Sidney Crosby needs to say it himself before people start listening, but he's not going anywhere. He's committed to the Penguins.
Regardless, since people latch onto anything on the internet these days and media literacy is dead, Laraque's tweet blew up like it was actual legitimate reporting. That included the Spittin' Chiclets page sharing a screenshot of the tweet to their Instagram page.
Now, Crosby is currently with Nathan MacKinnon for MacKinnon's bachelor party celebrations. And MacKinnon apparently took a moment out of the festivities to log onto Instagram and state the obvious in the comment section under Spittin' Chiclets' post of Laraque's tweet:
Fake News. Obviously.
Kyle Dubas was asked about the internet drama involving Crosby tonight in his post-draft media availability, and was confused that people were talking about it at all.
"I haven't seen that," he said, chuckling. "There's no change at all to anything from our perspective. Everything that we're doing is about bringing the team back to being a contending team. Our hope is to do that while Sid is a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins."
