Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz is having some kind of run. The 22-year-old rookie, taken fourth overall in the 2024 draft, is having a monster week, hitting five home runs in six games, including two walkoffs:
After a slumping April and early May — he didn't hit his first home run until May 13 — he's been on a roll, homering nine times in his last 15 games, now slashing .252/.307/.526 on the season.
He still needs some work and consistency, to be expected from a young player with only 42 minor-league games, but appears he'll be a good one for a long while.
